Its 319 acres on Lake Michigan were originally dedicated in 1844 – although back then it was called Lake Park. Illinois native Ulysses S. Grant gave the park its current name, and today it’s where you still find many of Chicago’s cultural attractions, including the Art Institute, the Adler Planetarium, and the newest feature, Millennium Park. Many of the city’s festivals are held on its sprawling lawns as well, including the Chicago Blues and the Chicago Jazz festivals – and summertime’s famous food festival – the “Taste of Chicago.”
