The New York City Police Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the world's largest and most famous police force. Located in the first precinct station house, that was built in 1901, the museum exhibits police equipment such as pistols, uniforms, and vehicles along with fun things like master burglar Willie Sutton's lock picks and a machine gun used by Al Capone. By telling the story of the NYPD, the Police Museum chronicles the history of the City of New York as well as how the policies and culture of the NYPD have evolved over time to meet the changing needs of the City's communities.

Frank Lloyd Wright's only New York building is best summed up as a brilliant work of architecture. Opened in 1959, shortly after Wright died, the Guggenheim is designed specifically to showcase and complement modern art. Inside, under a 92-foot-high glass dome, the museum's spiraling rotunda circles over a slowly inclined ramp that leads you past changing exhibits that have ranged from "Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle" to "Norman Rockwell: Pictures for the American People." The museum has strong permanent holdings in Kandinsky, Klee, Chagall, Picasso, and Mapplethorpe, and runs special programs including docent tours, guided gallery talks, films, and music on weekends.
