    Bishop Museum was established in 1889 to house the extensive collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal family heirlooms of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. Today, it’s the largest museum in the state and the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific. The new Science Adventure Center offers highly interactive exhibits showcasing the latest in scientific technology and research. Visitors can feel the heat of a volcano, control a submersible ROV and learn more about Hawaii's fascinating natural environment.


    This is the largest museum in the state. It was opened in 1898 by Charles Reed Bishop for his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Exhibits include Polynesian art and the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame. Exhibits and events range by daily and monthly call ahead or check online for current information.

    Rich with historical Hawaiian culture, the Ionlani Palace was built to promote the prestige of the island in 1879. It is the only residence of royalty in the United States and was once the home to two monarchs from Hawaiian Royalty.
