French native Daniel Thiebaut has not discarded his old heritage in decorating and creating the menu for his signature restaurant – but he certainly embraces his new heritage – starting with the brightly colored fabrics, vintage Hawaiana, and brightly colored fabrics in the décor. But France is more than a memory in the flavors of his Lobster Bisque flavored with Brandy and topped with Cilantro Coconut Cream. And Macadamia Nut Crusted Tofu Napoleon certainly brings up memories of “la revolution!” The homey atmosphere makes it feel like you’re the guest at a dinner party… perhaps the host would pour us a glass of Bordeaux s’il vous plait?

The waves crashing under the lanai at Jamesons provide the backbeat. The song is the names of the fish: opakapaka, mahi mahi - ahi and ono. And the music of Jameson’s tastes delicious – whether poached in white wine sauce, or lightly breaded in Panko. A dozen wines available by the glass – and many more by the bottle. Just south of Magic Sands beach, the restaurant overlooks the water – where you can see the ships sail by or watch the world turn orange as the sun seems to slide into the ocean. With a kona coffee in your hand – you’re ready to welcome the night.

Originally constructed in 1912, the S. Hata building is now the home to Café Pesto, a pioneer in creative Hawaiian Regional fare. The high ceilings, rattan furniture, and brass details of the kitchen elicit a rustic charm – and the smells from the ohia wood-fired pizza ovens are tantalizing. The topping combinations are endless – and Café Pesto allows you to create your own – or try one they came up with for you. The oriental al pesto pizza combines sun dried tomatoes, Japanese eggplant, and roasted garlic. You can always continue with the Fresh Catch Stromboli and Seafood Combo… while you’re at it, have a drink. They’re famous for their Margaritas, rimmed with Li Hing Mui.
